> [!ABSTRACT]
> [5G-EMIT](https://www.list.lu/en/informatics/project/5g-emit/) is a project aimed at developing a data-driven network planning solution to recommend optimal deployment strategies for 5G infrastructures, considering RF-[[EMF exposure]] limits and the features provided by new 5G technologies. The goal is to facilitate the deployment, compliance, and sustainability of 5G networks.

## Context
The deployment of 5G networks requires the installation of new base station equipment to meet the demands of next-generation mobile services. In regions with existing RF-EMF sources from 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies, there is growing concern about the increasing complexity of network planning and deployment. Traditional methods for assessing RF-EMF compliance may not be suitable for 5G due to the use of active antenna technologies like Massive MIMO with precise beamforming. This necessitates the development of new assessment methodologies and network planning solutions to ensure optimized deployment of 5G infrastructures in accordance with current regulations.
## Key objectives
1. **Develop a data-driven network planning solution**: Create a system to recommend optimal 5G network deployment strategies considering RF-EMF limits.
2. **Facilitate 5G deployment and compliance**: Ensure that new 5G infrastructures adhere to existing RF-EMF regulations.
3. **Enhance sustainability of 5G networks**: Promote efficient and compliant deployment strategies for long-term network sustainability.
## Outcomes
- **Optimized 5G deployment strategies**: Development of guidelines for efficient and compliant 5G network installations.
- **Improved RF-EMF assessment methodologies**: Creation of new methods tailored to the complexities of 5G technologies.
- **Support for telecom ecosystem**: Provision of tools to accelerate the deployment of new and future networked systems.
